Technology Jobs Chicago

I’m currently a college student. Computer Information systems was my choice because I love technology.?
My question is, what are the tech companies looking for in today’s job market? I live in chicago and as of now we have the highest unemployed rate. After four years of school what do employer ’s consider as entry level positions? My third question is, what are the best certification’s to have in the tech field.
Go back and get a Masters while the economy is tanking for the next few years. In the late 90’s there was a .5% unemployment rate in I.T and even the unqualified were making too much money. Now, we’re pushing 7+% unemployment across the board and possibly more in I.T. It will be a few years before you’ll see a modest turnaround to get started in this sector. Might was well wait it out in school.
